Markvovic
Markovic's efforts have increased both students and teachers motivation
in her school in Serbia. She has incorporated Facebook as a reminder for
the kids while they are at home. She said you MUST listen to your students. By knowing what they want, it
helps the teachers know how to teach.
Since so many people have Twitter now,
that is an easy way to get in touch/remind people about events. She
makes a good point about what advice she would give to a new teacher.
K-12 Classrooms go vitrual.
I do not think that it is a good idea for students to use ipads and other stuff in the classroom. I think that it is taking away from learning environment. Students would be ready to get on the ipads and play the games instead of listening to the teachers. I think if you are going to use it may it should be like twice a week instead of something they are using daily.
Flipped Classrooms
In this article they talk about using video tutorials to teach the kids instead of the teacher actually teaching. I personally think that this takes away from teaching period because a teacher is suppose to actually give a lesson about what they are doing instead of placing the students on a computer and letting them teach their selves I think that it can help them with certain things instead of the computer being a teacher. Most students would not do what they are suppose to do if it was to be done on a computer.
New Technology in Western Springs
In this article they introduce this new Chromebook to k-2nd graders. I personally do think that this is something I would let my kindergarten class use even though the world is shifting towards more technology I do not think that are mature enough for these advance items. I think may be fourth grade on up would be something i would consider them to start using.
Common Core Standards
Common Core standards are very useful guidelines that i think teachers should follow. I read more about and it became very interesting. I think it is something I would use on a day to day basis because. For example if I were history teacher i would make the class listen things that were going in the election and provide video clips so that could get better understanding of what is going on with certain things in the news. It is something that I would definitely use.
Blogfolio
Introduction :Standard 1a: Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and
inventiveness.
-Used
in classroom or not: I
think the introduction video and paragraph would be good to use in the
classroom. If using with older kids, it would give them a fun way to split up
with groups and go around campus to film about themselves. They could be played
during class or on a blog to let other kids watch and meet their classmates.
Facebook Page- Standard 4d: Develop and model cultural
understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of
other cultures using digital age communication and collaboration tools.
-Used
in classroom or not:
This could be used with facebook, twitter, or pinterest. It would show the kids
a little bit about each classmate outside of school.
4.
Concept Map- Standard 2a: Design or adapt relevant
learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote
student learning and creativity.
-Used
in classroom or not: This
would be very useful in a classroom. It would be great for projects to be shown
to the class.
5. Voki- Standard 3a: Demonstrate fluency in
technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies
and situations.
-Used
in classroom or not: I
think I would only use Voki if we had extra time in class. It is almost the
same as Xtranormal but more creativity. I would rather use Xtranormal over
Voki.
-Ghostery- Standard 4c: Promote and model digital
etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology
and information.
-Used
in classroom or not:
This could be used but I do not think I would use it. I downloaded it on my
computer at home and did not see a difference in anything besides pop-ups in
the side bar constantly.
6.
Webpage- Standard 2c: Customize and personalize
learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working
strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources
-Used
in classroom or not: I would defiantly use this as a teacher.
Some schools now use the Internet to communicate with teachers. This would be a
good way for all your kid’s parents to know a little bit about you.
7. Xtranormal- Standard 1b: Engage students in
exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools
and resources.
-Used
in classroom or not: I
think this would be good for a younger class to use. Since younger kids are all
about learning safety rules, they could each make a video about one they have
learned and put their own creativity in it.
8.
Movie Maker- Standard 1c: Promote student reflection
using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual
understanding and thinking, planning and creative processes.
-Used
in classroom or not: This would be good to use at the end of
the year. The students could make a video of everything they have done since
the school year started. It could be pictures of them or pictures of all the
projects and schoolwork they have done.
Eight problems with Common Core Standards
Eight problems with the Common core was basically about how people have different thoughts about the Common Core Standards. I personally think that people are going to have opinions about so there will be situations where there will be issue trying to get your point across. Based on the article i think think that Some people just are in ti for the money and others really love what they are doing so they will stick it out no matter what.
Out-of-School Setting Create Climate for new skills
In this article teachers wanted to give students something to do outside of the classroom.Students spend majority of the day inside of the classroom and that at times can get boring. So a group of students set out to do something called Treasure hunters. It is something where students can use different technology to go around neighborhoods to different tasks. I think this is a very good idea because most students can not afford ipads or laptops so for the school to donate or let them use so that can enjoy these different activities. I also think that it will help them stay off the streets and be eager to come to class.
Applied Technology
In the applied technology article it talked about how students and teachers can use technology in the classroom to make it more interesting. I think that this is a very good idea because most of the time students get bored easily at just listening to the teacher talk. So I think that including technology in some of the lessons will get the students more active in class. I also think that in order for the teachers to show children to use these different things they must be properly trained to that so that it will not be hard for the students to understand.

Teachers' Expectations Can Influence how Students Perform
In the article it talks about different ways that teachers can influence the performance of a student. I think that this is very true because you have some students that really want to succeed and want to be recognized and you also have some teachers that wont the best for their students. This to me is important because you can build some type of relationship with students. It list seven ways that the teachers can change their expectations watch, listen, engage, experiment, reach out, and reflect. these seven ways really helped me get through elementary and high school. This I think will help the teachers will see improvement in the class, the student, and themselves.
